Reminders-II

Jesus is absolutely everything He said He would be. And when He went to the cross for us, it was not the weight of our immeasurable sins that held Him there. It was love. It was love that drove God to send His only Son; it was love that caused Jesus to live a perfect life, it was love that took Him to the cross, and it was love that held Him there. And in the midst of the most agonizing death imaginable, when He said it was finished, in that moment, every sin was vanquished. It was love that made Him give up His life, it was love that kept Him dead for three days, it was love that conquered the grave, and it was love that caused Him to rise again on the third day, and it is love that carries us every painful step of the way, it is love that holds us fast, and it is love that will one day call us home where we will live in the light of that love for the entirety of eternity. If that isn’t any sign of God’s love for us, then truly, what is?

Love isn’t just a feeling. It’s not a tingling or warm sensation we get when we feel special or when someone lets us know they were thinking of us. Love in its truest form is what Jesus did on that hill. The Father’s love for us is so deep, He ordained before the creation of the world for His Son to be brutally and publicly murdered. And that feeling of love comes from knowing the truth, not the other way around.

“For when we were still without strength, in due time Christ died for the ungodly. For scarcely for a righteous man will one die; yet perhaps for a good man someone would even dare to die. But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us. Much more then, having now been justified by His blood, we shall be saved from wrath through Him. For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. And not only that, but we also rejoice in God through our Lord Jesus Christ, through whom we have now received the reconciliation.”

‭‭Romans‬ ‭5‬:‭6‬-‭11‬

We so quickly forget that part. And I get it. This is not me calling you out in any way. I forget this. Daily. But may we never forget what He did. Because He loves us. Immeasurably and completely.

That kind of love can’t be described or fully understood. But I pray it finds you today. Because it’s there, I promise. It’s never not there.-SG
